Oct 6: ARRIVE AT KILIMANJARO AIRPORT
Transfer from Kilimanjaro Airport to your overnight lodge in Arusha.
Overnight: Kibo Palace

Oct 7: ORIENTATION DAY
We will meet you for a climb orientation and also do an equipment check with each person. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
Overnight: Kibo Palace

Oct 8: MONTANE FOREST (9,000') (Day 1 on the mountain)
Leave Arusha in the morning and drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park gate. We will check in, register and meet the rest of the crew. Hike approx 4 hours to our overnight camp.

Oct 9: SHIRA PLATEAU WEST SIDE (11,300') (Day 2 on the mountain)
Hike approx 4 hours through the Montane Forest and the Hagenia forest zones to our next overnight camp.

Oct 10: SHIRA PLATEAU EAST SIDE (12,950') (Day 3 on mountain)
Hike approx 4 hours across the Shira Plateau, a World Heritage Site, and one more hour up the western slope of the Kibo Massif. Overnight camp will be in the upper heath and moorland zone in full view of the Western Breach.

Oct 11: LAVA TOWER (14,300') (Day 4 on mountain)
Hike approximately 6 hours to our overnight camp just under Lava Tower, a 300 foot high volcanic lava plug that juts out of the side of the mountain. If interested,after lunch we can climb to the top of Lava tower to increase your performance by acclimatizing high on top of the tower.

Oct 12: ARROW GLACIER (16,000') (Day 5 on mountain)
We will spend about 3 hours climbing to the base of the Western Breach Route where we will camp near Arrow Glacier. Take an afternoon hike partway along the climbing ascent route and then spend the rest of the day resting and conserving strength.

Oct 13: SUMMIT CRATER CAMP (18,500') (Day 6 on mountain)
HIke approx 6 hours up the Western Breach to the crater rim of the main Kilimanjaro summit massif. If interested you can explore the inner crater and the ash pit before moving to our highest camp on the crater floor, next to the Furtwrangler Glaciers.

Oct 14: SUMMIT DAY and MWEKA CAMP (10,500') (Day 7 on mountain)
In the morning, hike to the summit in only 2-3 hours, arriving at sunrise. After the celebration and time to enjoy the view, we will begin the long descent through Barafu Hut and down to our final camp near Mweka Hut. FULL MOON

Oct 15: ARUSHA (Day 8 on mountain & hike out)
Hike about 4 to 5 hours down to the park gate. Enjoy lunch and then say goodbye to the mountain staff. Drive back to Arusha.
